How this count is made, and what it leaves out

The figure for Oceania is not a soft directory number. Here is exactly what it counts, what it excludes, and how to check it.

What is counted

An organization is counted when it delivers something to a person with the intent of extending healthy years, through clinical care, screening, diagnostics, or a structured preventive program, and when it is published, not closed, and not a duplicate listing. The 17 figure for Oceania counts every such organization across all four pillars of the healthspan economy.

What is left out, and how much

  • 1 organization mapped in Oceania is held out of this count as a fertility or IVF clinic or a pure booking or telehealth platform: Kin Fertility . They keep their Atlas entry, they are only outside the geographic count.
  • No organization recorded in Oceania is closed.
  • Organizations still under review, and those announced but not yet open, are held back before publication. They carry no place in the published data, so they are counted nowhere in the Atlas, including here.
  • Aesthetic-only providers, product-only companies, investors, publishers, and events are out of scope for the Atlas and are never recorded as organizations.

What this does not claim

The Atlas records, it does not rate. There is no ranking, no score, and no paid placement. No organization pays to appear or to rank, here or anywhere in the Atlas.

How to check

Oceania lists every counted organization on this page, with the count broken down by pillar above. The figure is the sum of that breakdown, reproducible line by line. See how the geographic count is derived.

Which countries in Oceania have the most?

Every country the Atlas maps in Oceania is listed here, counted whether or not it has its own country page.

How is longevity medicine regulated across Oceania?

Australia and New Zealand recognize each other's registered professionals and each other's lawfully sold goods, through an arrangement that deliberately stopped short of a single regulator. A person registered for an occupation in one country is entitled to register for the equivalent occupation in the other, but the registration is granted by the host country's own authority. There is no trans-Tasman clinic license.

A person registered to practise an occupation in one country is entitled to register to practise the equivalent occupation in the other after notifying the relevant registration authority, without further testing or examination. A good that may lawfully be sold in one country may be sold in the other without meeting additional sale requirements. The arrangement is not a treaty. It is given effect by mirror legislation on each side.
Government of New Zealand; the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments of Australia, Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Arrangement, given effect by the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act 1997 (NZ) and mirror Australian legislation, in effect from 1997. Primary source .
The arrangement does not create a unified regulatory system. Each jurisdiction keeps its own registration authorities, and a person seeking recognition across the Tasman applies to the host jurisdiction's own registration body. Nothing in it licenses a health facility, and the two countries' therapeutic goods regulators remain separate.

Medium-high. Both facts are read from the New Zealand government's own overview of the arrangement. That overview dates it from 1997, while other accounts date the scheme's operation from May 1, 1998, and the New Zealand legislation site refused access in this pass, so the commencement is not confirmed against the Act itself. Whether therapeutic goods sit under one of the arrangement's exemptions was not confirmed for the same reason.

Oceania in the Atlas taxonomy is Australia and New Zealand, and the arrangement covers exactly those two, which makes this the one region where the supranational layer and the taxonomy coincide. Only Australia carries organizations; New Zealand sits in the taxonomy with none. No Pacific island state is in the taxonomy at all. The two governments agreed in 2011 to build a joint therapeutic products agency and it does not exist, but the New Zealand regulator's own page on that agency has not been updated since January 2012 and still describes the joint scheme as proceeding, so why it does not exist is not sourced here and is not asserted.
