How this count is made, and what it leaves out

The figure for Canada is not a soft directory number. Here is exactly what it counts, what it excludes, and how to check it.

What is counted

An organization is counted when it delivers something to a person with the intent of extending healthy years, through clinical care, screening, diagnostics, or a structured preventive program, and when it is published, not closed, and not a duplicate listing. The 8 figure for Canada counts every such organization across all four pillars of the healthspan economy.

What is left out, and how much

  • No organization mapped in Canada is held out of the count as a fertility clinic or a booking or telehealth platform.
  • No organization recorded in Canada is closed.
  • Organizations still under review, and those announced but not yet open, are held back before publication. They carry no place in the published data, so they are counted nowhere in the Atlas, including here.
  • Aesthetic-only providers, product-only companies, investors, publishers, and events are out of scope for the Atlas and are never recorded as organizations.

What this does not claim

The Atlas records, it does not rate. There is no ranking, no score, and no paid placement. No organization pays to appear or to rank, here or anywhere in the Atlas.

How to check

Canada lists every counted organization on this page, with the count broken down by pillar above. The figure is the sum of that breakdown, reproducible line by line. See how the geographic count is derived.

Where are they concentrated in Canada?

The Atlas records these city concentrations in Canada, each with three or more organizations holding a recorded site in the city. An organization with sites in two of these cities is counted in both, so these figures add up to more than the number of organizations they cover.

  • 3 Calgary

How is longevity medicine regulated in Canada?

Canada has no federal or provincial licence category for longevity or anti-ageing clinics. What is regulated is which procedures require an inspected premises, and whether a service may be billed to a patient, neither of which turns on how a clinic describes itself.

Ontario's out-of-hospital premises regime is triggered by the procedures performed, those carried out under anaesthesia or sedation, and specified cosmetic procedures, not by the type of clinic. A premises performing only consultations, blood testing or imaging does not require notification.
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, O. Reg. 114/94 under the Medicine Act, 1991 (Out-of-Hospital Premises Inspection Program), as checked August 10, 2026. Primary source .
A provincial health care insurance plan must not permit extra-billing or user charges. These restrictions attach to insured health services; services that are not insured fall outside them.
Parliament of Canada, Canada Health Act, RSC 1985, c. C-6, ss. 18-19, as checked August 10, 2026. Primary source .
Ontario licenses integrated community health services centres, also called community surgical and diagnostic centres. Licences are keyed to services for which facility costs are paid by the province.
Ministry of Health, Ontario, Integrated Community Health Services Centres Act, 2023 (O. Reg. 215/23), which repealed and replaced the Independent Health Facilities Act, in force September 25, 2023. Primary source .

High confidence for the federal position, read on 2026-08-10 from the Canada Health Act on the Justice Laws website. Of the two Ontario facts, the licensing fact is read from the Integrated Community Health Services Centres Act, 2023 itself on Ontario's e-Laws. The out-of-hospital premises fact is read from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario's own program page rather than from O. Reg. 114/94.

Only federal law and Ontario were checked. British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and the other provinces regulate premises and billing separately and were not examined. Cell and gene therapy, natural health products, medical devices and advertising were not checked. Nothing here describes the licence or registration status of any operator the Atlas records.
